Along for the Ride 2

            I’m reading “Along for the Ride” by Sarah Dessen. The book is about a girl named Auden who moves in with her dad and her stepmother. She starts off as a cold judgment, school oriented person, just like her mother, but then she meets Eli and everything changes.

           

        I think its good that Auden met Eli. Auden stays all night, a habit she picked up when her parents first started fighting right before their divorce. Eli also stays out all night so now she has someone to talk to a night. Eli and Auden are on a quest “to given Auden a childhood,” the childhood her parents never really allowed. This is good for Auden because it can help her break free from her parents grip and she can live the life she wants to lead instead of the life her parents want her to lead. She also opens up to Eli about how her dad and stepmother are fighting for the same reasons her parents were and she tells him that her greatest failure was that she couldn’t stop her parents from getting divorced. Its good that Auden has someone who will listen to her so that she doesn’t keep all of her feeling pent up inside her. His or her relationship is also good for Eli because he has someone to talk to and he hasn’t talked to anyone since his best friend Abe dyed. Auden is helping him forget about Abe’s death and is also helping him get through it.

            

        But on the other hand their relationship could end up hurting both of them. They have already exposed so much of themselves to each other that is one of them says the wrong thing or shares what the other person told them their relationship could go up in flames. I know that Auden and Eli are falling for each other so that makes their relationship even more delicate. It’s the first time Auden has ever really been in love with somebody so if Eli breaks her heart, it could make her revert into her old anti-social ways and will make her become even more like her mother then she was before she met Eli. Eli hasn’t loved someone or opened up to anyone since Abe’s death and if Auden leaves him it might crush him as much as when Abe did.

            

        I think that their relationship has more benefits but the downside is one thing, one seemingly small action could tear them apart, and tear them apart from the world even more.

           

        I’m reading “Along for the Ride” by Sarah Dessen and I think Auden and Eli have a beneficial relationship but they have to be careful not to hurt each other.
